NativityAndMe -Part 1 December 16, 2018

December 24, 2018 by Pastor David Rathel

Christmas 2018

NativityAndMe – December 16, 2018

Matthew 1:18-25

“BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which translated means, “GOD WITH US.”

Luke 1:34, 35

34“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” 35The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.

How did Jesus Receive His DNA?

  1. 46 Chromosomes Directly From Mary.
  2. 23 Chromosomes From Mary & 23 Divine Chromosomes From God.
  3. 46 Divine Chromosomes From God.
  • Option 1 – Jesus received all of Mary’s genetics. “Parthenogenesis” The process of reproduction without a genetic contribution from a male. Never in mammals and never in Humans. The female reproduces a complete genetic code. Thus, a new baby is born with one biological mother and “no actual father.”
  • Option 2 – Jesus received half of Mary’s genetics and half of a special set of DNA miraculously sent from God. This would give Jesus 23 human and 23 divine chromosomes.
  • Option 3 – Jesus received all of his DNA uniquely from God, and Mary simply carried him until birth.  All 46 chromosomes were divine and miraculously sent from God into Mary’s womb.

Galatians 4:6, 7

6Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” 7So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.

YOU’LL NEVER KNOW WHO YOU ARE UNTIL YOU KNOW WHO HE IS.

2 Peter 1:3, 4

3His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

WE ARE ATTRACTED TO THE IDENTITY THAT GETS AFFIRMED THE MOST.

IT’S NOT WHERE YOU ARE, BUT WHO YOU ARE.

The Definition Of Faith:

REALITY THAT IS NOT YET REVEALED TO YOUR SENSES.

About Pastor David Rathel

My wife, Melanie, and I moved back to Columbus with our two week old little girl, Hannah, after finishing Graduate School in Fort Worth, Texas in 2001. RiverTown Church was born in a movie theater on September 9th that same year with a vision to be “a church for people who don’t go to church” here in our hometown. God has blessed us since then with a great location on Schomburg Rd. near my old neighborhood and High School. New people are coming to RiverTown all the time and discovering that God can “transform their lives into the likeness of Jesus Christ” through a church family where you can Believe, Belong, and Become!

From our first prayer meetings in a living room in nearby Phenix City, to our preview services and grand opening the Hollywood Connection movie theater, and finally to our current property and buildings on Schomburg Rd. God has led us all the way.

My wife and I both grew up here, so we know the people and love it here. Melanie keeps me going! We’ve been through all the good, the bad, and the ugly of life and have found that everything is sweeter together. You’ll never find us at a church event on a Friday night. We’ve had date night on Fridays since my first day as a Pastor. We met while working together in a Franklin Graham evangelistic crusade here in Columbus in 1996. Our second child is named Graham for that very reason! Our first child, Hannah, was born in Forth Worth just before we finished Seminary in 2001. Two weeks after she was born in Fort Worth, we were on the road back to Columbus to knock on doors and start RiverTown. She and the church will always be the same age!

On this blog, you'll be the first to know what God is teaching me and teaching through me to our church family. We'll laugh together and sometimes cry together. Most of all, you'll be challenged to take your next step in following Jesus Christ.
