About Us

July 7, 2015 by Casey

Join us Sunday mornings at 10 AM!

So who are we at Rivertown Church?

A church for people who don’t go to church!

We like old movies, a spring rain , cook-outs, and chocolate in all of its varieties. We really dig on a good tune and we adore those brightly colored wildflowers that grow on the side of the interstate. We are super buff or slightly soft. We are young, seasoned, and young at heart. Not to mention single, divorced, married, widowed, or, um…looking.

We are soldiers, engineers, farmers, students, bankers, professional moms, delivery folks, factory workers, nurses, teachers and programmers. We cry, but we also laugh-a lot. We ponder, get serious, and at times border on being really silly, and we veg-out (professionally). Who are we? Believe it or not we are a church, RiverTown Church! Even with all that diversity, you still might think someone would be left out of the mix… but that is not the case!

About 2000 years ago Jesus came into the picture and was a little disappointed with the ideas and attitudes of religious people. The idea that putting on a good front was more important that a relationship with God; the idea that maintaining laws and rules were more important than trusting in God for guidance; the attitude that church wasn’t for everyone, just a select few. Jesus saw things differently. He enjoyed people; got to know them on a personal level in spite of their many flaws. He still loved them, healed them, died for them. Some things never change. So you see, we’re trying to be the church that He promoted. Something more than rules and regulations. At our core, we’re about relationships. A relationship with God and relationships with people, everyday people, just like us and you.

So why not give RiverTown Church a shot? Friendship, support, laughter, and the possibility of light refreshments. Can’t beat that. Drop by, check out a service, shoot us an email, or give us a call. We’d love to hear from you!
